You've seen Claude or ChatGPT make a deck from a prompt, then you spend an hour fixing fonts. Here's how in Copilot: start in PowerPoint and pick your Brand Kit, so the draft uses your logos, colors and templates.

A common situation (composite)

The AI deck looked great.
Then the brand team saw it.
I want a draft that starts in our template.

What you get

  • Data: your description and your company template or Brand Kit.
  • Does: drafts a presentation in your brand.
  • Output: a draft deck you can edit.
  • How often: each new deck.

Before you start

  1. Needs: Microsoft 365 Copilot. Not sure what you have? Start here.
  2. Where: PowerPoint, Copilot.
  3. Access: Copilot only uses content you already have permission to open. Use only information your company allows in Copilot.

The steps

  1. Start a new presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. Open Copilot from the icon at the bottom-right.
  3. Choose a Brand Kit in Select brand, if your company has one.
  4. Paste the prompt, answer the clarifying questions, and review the draft.

Copy this prompt

Create an [8]-slide presentation for [audience] about [topic].
Goal: they should [decide / approve / understand] [what].
Slide 1: the main ask in one sentence.
Then: problem, options, recommendation, cost as [COST], timeline, risks, next steps.
Short titles that state the point. Max 4 bullets per slide. Speaker notes on each slide.

Data tip: use this with your work Copilot, and leave out passwords, payment details and anything your company marks restricted.

What a good result looks like

Every number and [COST] is yours. Titles say the point, not just the topic.

If a feature is missing

Some PowerPoint Copilot features also need a Microsoft Designer license. If the create option is missing, ask IT.

Make it smarter

Keep a short "What it got wrong" note. Paste it above the prompt next time, like "Don't invent dates".

Not sure what to ask? Copy the quick note for your Copilot admin.

Pitch decks for one customer

Most sales decks don't need to be rebuilt. They need one or two slides that prove you listened. If you only have Copilot Chat, you can still draft the content and paste it in.

  • Pitch bullets in Chat: ask Copilot Chat for bullets on the customer's mission, who they sell to, and how you help. Paste them into your slides.
  • One custom slide: with Copilot in PowerPoint, ask for one slide built from your notes, placed where it fits.
  • From a report: for a full deck from a Word file, use report to deck.

Prompt

Add one slide after slide [n] called "[Customer]'s priorities this year". Use only these points from my notes: [paste three or four points]. Three bullets, and one short line under each on how we help. Match the deck's existing style.

Make it better

Run this next, in the same chat.

Now check the whole deck for anything that contradicts this new slide, or slides this customer won't care about. List them with slide numbers. Don't delete anything.
