You've seen marketers feed ChatGPT a few notes and get a full campaign brief. Here's how in Copilot: draft it in Word and reference the kickoff email and last campaign's report with /.

A common situation (composite)

Everyone agrees on the idea in the meeting.
Then design, sales and the agency each build something different.
We needed one page everyone signs off on.

What you get

  • Data: the kickoff email or notes and last campaign's results.
  • Does: drafts a brief using those references.
  • Output: a one-page brief with goal, audience, message and deadlines.
  • How often: each campaign.

Before you start

  1. Needs: Microsoft 365 Copilot. Not sure what you have? Start here.
  2. Where: Word, Copilot pane.
  3. Access: Copilot only uses content you already have permission to open. Use only information your company allows in Copilot.

The steps

  1. Open a blank Word document and open Copilot.
  2. Paste the prompt and fill in the brackets.
  3. Type / and add the kickoff email, meeting or notes, and last campaign's report.
  4. Generate, then fix the goal number and dates yourself before sharing.

Copy this prompt

Draft a one-page campaign brief for [campaign name].

Sections:

- Audience (who, and what they care about)
- Key message (one sentence) and 3 proof points
- Channels and assets needed
- What worked and didn't last time (from the referenced report)
- Owners and deadlines (leave [OWNER] / [DATE] if not in the sources)

Use only the referenced sources. Keep it to one page.

What a good result looks like

The goal is one number. Every "last time" point is in the old report.

If a feature is missing

Paste the kickoff notes and last results into the prompt if you can't reference files.

Make it smarter

Keep a short "What it got wrong" note. Paste it above the prompt next time, like "Don't invent dates".

Not sure what to ask? Copy the quick note for your Copilot admin.
