You've seen people drop a product photo into ChatGPT and ask for a lifestyle shot. Here's how in Copilot: in Create an image, add your photo as a reference with the + button and describe the new setting.
A common situation (composite)
We have one good packshot.
Marketing wants it on a kitchen counter, a desk and a gym bag.
There's no budget for a shoot.
What you get
- Data: your own product photo and a scene description.
- Does: generates new images based on your reference.
- Output: lifestyle-style images of your product.
- How often: per campaign.
Before you start
- Needs: Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat with your work account (a Microsoft 365 Copilot license gives steadier quality). Not sure what you have? Start here.
- Where: Copilot app, Create an image.
- Access: Copilot only uses content you already have permission to open. Use only information your company allows in Copilot.
The steps
- Open Create in the Copilot app and select Create an image.
- Select + then Add an image and pick your product photo.
- Paste the prompt, set Style to Photorealistic, and choose a Size.
- Generate, refine with Transform with AI, then compare against the real product.
Copy this prompt
Prompt: lifestyle
Use my product photo as the reference. Place the product on a [light oak kitchen counter] in soft morning light, a [coffee cup and plant] slightly out of focus behind it, photorealistic, shallow depth of field, the product is the clear focus and keeps its exact shape, colors and label.

Prompt: flat lay
Top-down flat lay of my product on a [pale concrete] surface with [notebook, pen and sunglasses] arranged around it, even soft lighting, lots of negative space on the right for text, photorealistic.

What a good result looks like
Logo, label and shape match the real product. Don't publish an image that changes what the product looks like.
If a feature is missing
Only upload photos you have the rights to use, and get permission from anyone shown in them.
Make it smarter
Keep a short "What it got wrong" note. Paste it above the prompt next time, like "Don't invent dates".
Not sure what to ask? Copy the quick note for your Copilot admin.
