Prep for the forecast call with a commit you can defend
Copilot Chat
Short answer: Give Copilot Chat your deals for the period with stage, amount and what the customer has actually done or said. Ask it to sort them into commit, best case and pipeline using your rules, to list the evidence and the risk for each, and to predict the questions your manager will ask. Then decide your number yourself.

A forecast is a promise with your name on it. Reps who hit their number are trusted with bigger territories, and reps who explain a miss early keep that trust. Copilot won't pick your number, but it will make you show your work before someone else asks for it.
A common situation (composite)
My manager asks for my commit every Thursday.
I say a number and hope.
Then I get grilled on deals I haven't looked at in a week.
What you get
- Data: your deals this period, with what each customer has actually done.
- Does: sorts deals by your forecast rules and lists evidence and risk.
- Output: a forecast sheet and a list of likely questions.
- How often: every week or before each forecast call.
Before you start
- Needs: Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. Not sure what you have? Start here.
- Microsoft's label for this scenario: Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Where: Copilot Chat.
- Access: Copilot only uses content you already have permission to open. Use only information your company allows in Copilot.
The steps
- List your deals closing this period with amount, stage and the last real thing the customer did (signed, scheduled, asked for paperwork).
- Write down your team's forecast rules, like "commit means legal review started".
- Run the prompt and check every piece of evidence it lists.
- Run the follow-up to practice the hard questions.
- Pick your number. You own it, not Copilot.
Copy this prompt
Here are my deals closing by [end of period]:
[deal | amount | stage | last customer action and date | known risks]
Our forecast rules:
- Commit: [your rule]
- Best case: [your rule]
- Pipeline: everything else
Sort each deal into commit, best case or pipeline using only those rules. For each, list the evidence and the biggest risk. Then total each group. Flag any deal where the evidence is weak for its category.
(Prompt from stuckwithcopilot.com/guides/forecast-call-prep/)
Make it better
Run this next, in the same chat.
Now play my sales manager on the forecast call. Ask me the five hardest questions about this forecast, one at a time, and wait for my answer. After each answer, tell me in one line if it would hold up.
(Prompt from stuckwithcopilot.com/guides/forecast-call-prep/)
Data tip: use this with your work Copilot, and leave out passwords, payment details and anything your company marks restricted.
What a good result looks like
Every deal sits in a category your rules support, the totals add up, and the weak deals are flagged before your manager finds them.
If a feature is missing
With a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, ask Copilot to check your emails and meetings from the last two weeks for each top deal and add what the customer said. Without the license, ask Copilot Chat in Outlook about recent emails and meetings for each deal, then paste the answer into your forecast chat.
Make it smarter
Keep a short "What it got wrong" note. Paste it above the prompt next time, like "Don't invent dates".
Not sure what to ask? Copy the quick note for your Copilot admin.

Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. With a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, ask Copilot to check your emails and meetings from the last two weeks for each top deal and add what the customer said. Without the license, ask Copilot Chat in Outlook about recent emails and meetings for each deal, then paste the answer into your forecast chat.
Should I let Copilot set my forecast number?
No. It sorts evidence. You know things that aren't in the notes, and the number is your call.
What if my company uses a forecasting tool already?
Use the tool for the numbers. Use this to prepare what you'll say about the deals behind them.
How do I handle a deal I think will slip?
Say it early. Ask Copilot for a two-sentence way to explain why and what you're doing to pull it back.
Try it once, then make it yours.
Run the prompt on one real task this week. Then pick your next workflow.
