Have Cowork build a one-page brief before a customer meeting
Copilot Cowork
Short answer: In Copilot Cowork, describe the meeting: account, date, your role and the goal. Ask it to gather the last 90 days of emails, chats, meetings and shared files about the account and build a one-page brief with sources, open commitments and the questions to ask. Ask to see it before it saves or shares anything.

The best account managers walk in knowing what was promised, what's late and who's unhappy. Cowork does the digging across your mail, chats and files so you spend prep time thinking instead of searching. Showing up that prepared is how renewals turn into expansions.
A common situation (composite)
The renewal meeting is tomorrow.
Three colleagues have emailed this customer.
I don't know what anyone promised.
What you get
- Data: the account name, meeting date, your role and the goal.
- Does: gathers recent activity and drafts a sourced brief.
- Output: a one-page brief in Word for you to review.
- How often: before every important customer meeting.
Before you start
- Needs: A Microsoft 365 Copilot license plus Copilot Credits billing, which an admin turns on. Your admin also has to add you to a spending policy that includes Cowork. Not sure what you have? Start here.
- Microsoft's label for this scenario: Copilot Cowork.
- Where: Copilot Cowork.
- Access: Copilot only uses content you already have permission to open. Use only information your company allows in Copilot.
The steps
- Open Copilot Cowork and paste the prompt with the account details.
- Let it gather sources. Answer any questions it asks.
- Review the brief before it saves or shares anything.
- Run the follow-up to rate how solid each risk is.
- Confirm anything marked UNKNOWN or Weak with your account team.
Copy this prompt
Help me prepare for my meeting with [account] on [date]. I'm the [your role]. The goal is [renewal / expansion / issue review].
Look through the last 90 days: emails with their contacts, Teams chats and meetings with them, meeting recaps, and files or proposals we shared.
Build a one-page brief in Word:
1. Who's attending and their roles, and when we last spoke
2. What's happened since our last meeting, each point with its source
3. Open commitments on both sides, with owner and due date
4. Risks or sensitive topics
5. Three goals for this meeting and five questions to ask
6. A short agenda
Cite a source for every point. Write UNKNOWN where the sources don't say. Show me the brief before you save or share it.
(Prompt from stuckwithcopilot.com/guides/customer-meeting-brief-cowork/)
Make it better
Run this next, in the same chat.
For each risk in the brief, rate the evidence: Strong (two or more sources), Weak (one source) or UNKNOWN. Then list what I should confirm with my team before the meeting, and who to ask.
(Prompt from stuckwithcopilot.com/guides/customer-meeting-brief-cowork/)
Data tip: use this with your work Copilot, and leave out passwords, payment details and anything your company marks restricted.
What a good result looks like
Every point links to a real email, meeting or file, commitments have owners and dates, and gaps say UNKNOWN instead of a guess.
If a feature is missing
No Cowork? In Copilot Chat in Outlook, ask for a summary of recent emails with the customer, then paste it into Copilot Chat with the brief format. Or use the customer account lookup guide.
Make it smarter
Keep a short "What it got wrong" note. Paste it above the prompt next time, like "Don't invent dates".
Not sure what to ask? Copy the quick note for your Copilot admin.
